6 FAQs about DiAi’s Solitaires

6 FAQs about DiAi’s Solitaires

Given that this week is all about #SustainablyStylishSolitatres, we compiled a list of the most commonly asked questions regarding Solitaire Diamonds.

1. What is a Solitaire?

A solitaire is a diamond or gemstone that is set in a single setting. This typically refers to jewellery that has one diamond as a highlight, placed in it. The design is constructed in a way to emphasise the solitaire.

2. What is the difference between Lab-Grown Solitaires and Natural Solitaires?

Diamonds created in a lab are just as real as diamonds mined from the ground. Except for the fact that they are developed in a lab, lab-grown diamonds are identical to earth mined diamonds in every way. They have the same chemical, physical and optical qualities and sparkle the same as mined diamonds as well.

3. What should one look for when selecting a solitaire?

A solitaire, or any diamond for that matter, is graded on four separate levels. The 4Cs indicate these four levels: cut, colour, clarity, and carat weight. Cut- The most important of the four elements is the cut. It reveals the diamond’s lustre and reflective qualities. Round, oval, emerald, marquise, cushion, trillion, and princess are just a few examples of stone cuts. The more sparkly a diamond seems, the better the cut. As a result, pick your shape and make sure your solitaire is well-cut and gleams brightly.

The Cut grades are as follows:

Colour – Diamonds come in a variety of colours, ranging from colourless to pale yellow and even brown. Diamonds that are colourless are the rarest, most desired, and most expensive. Hence, unless you opt for a fully coloured  diamond the whiter it is, the more expensive it will be.

The Colour grades are as follows:

Clarity- Majority of diamonds are known to have flaws and these impurities are what makes each piece unique. Diamond impurities are formed due to the high pressure and temperature the carbon goes through. When choosing a solitaire, look for one with a high clarity rating. This indicates that it will be free of flaws.

The Clarity grades are as follows:

Carat Weight- The carat refers to the weight of your solitaire in metric carats. It is important to note that the carat has no bearing on the diamond's beauty, but it does have a significant impact on its price. After the other 3Cs, think about the carat weight of your stone, depending on your  budget.

4. Do Lab-grown diamond solitaires have a resale value?

Of course! They are a truly timeless investment, since they last forever without taking away from Mother Earth. The stone can be sold at the current market price when you wish to sell it.
